Our alliance uses a total loss DKP system. Below is a description of how DKP is earned and how it is spent on loot.

DKP system

1. Earning DKP

Players earn DKP per raid event, and is dependent on the zones and mobs chosen. Additional points may be given for a long or difficult raid and these points may be awarded at the death of a specific mob. Every effort will be made to post an event such as this in advance, but it may not always be possible to announce this prior to an event. A DKP bonus is given to when the alliance defeats an event for the first time. Bonuses are also given out periodically for various reasons at the discretion of the alliance officers online at that time. Beating an event gives out full DKP for the event, failing events will have half DKP awarded. New events that we have NOT beat yet will have full DKP awarded even on a fail. Currently, we give DKP bonus for being on time to raids and being present for the end of the raids.

Earned points are added to your DKP total as soon as it is possible after the raid but they are not useable until they have been added

Only players earn DKP, so if you are playing one or multiple characters, you earn only one amount of DKP.

2. Winning Loot

When a loot item drops, the raid leader or designated loot master will link the item in /raidsay and ask, "Any challenge?" At this point, any character who can use the item immediately at the appropriate level may invoke a DKP Challenge simply by typing their total DKP in /raidsay. Once a challenge is made, anyone else who is interested in the item should state their total DKP in /raidsay, and the character with the highest total wins the item at the expense of losing all of their accumulated points. You cannot call for DKP unless you are bidding for the item. In the event of a tie on DKP, those engaged in the tie will each /ran x xxx, with the highest roller winning the tie.

If no DKP challenge is invoked for a particular loot drop, then that item will be /randomed among those interested characters who can use the item immediately at the appropriate level, and the one with the highest /ran wins the item at the expense of losing 5 DKP points. Since you cannot spend more DKP than you have available, you would have to have 5 DKP accumulated to be eligible to roll at this point. Points spent on a win will be deducted from your DKP total.

If no challenge is invoked for a particular loot drop, and no one chooses to /ran for the five point roll either, then that piece of loot will be treated as rot loot. Once an item is designated as rot loot, everyone in the raid has the opportunity to roll for it, winner to do with as they see fit, at no DKP cost.

If no one chooses to roll for a rot item it will be declared FFA (Free for All) and can be looted by alts or anyone that wants it.

3. Miscellaneous

Each player is limited to one DKP loot per raid night. This loot includes a DKP challenge or a 5 point DKP roll.

If a drop is limited to ONE class only and only one character is eligible for it, this will not count as loot for that raid.

Spell Runes and Augs

Occasionally, spell items and augs will drop on raids. We do not charge DKP for either. When an item or an aug drops, the loot master at the time will call for a random roll on the item. Players need to be of the appropriate level and class to be able to use the spell item or aug. In the case of spell items that are able to be cut down into lower level spells (last used in the SoD expansion), the player will still need to be of the appropriate level to roll, ie if an 95 item drops, the person needs to be 95 to roll even though it can be cut down.

Runes are limited to 1 win per 7 days. If you win on Sat you may not roll until the next Sat.

Augs are also limited to 1 win per 7 days. If you win on Sat you may not roll until the next Sat.

If no one rolls to win an item or aug it will be declared FFA, can be looted without regard to timers or restrictions, and will not require a waiting period.

Mistakes

Although we strive to be perfect in our loot system, we do occasionally make mistakes. Those mistakes can include, but are not limited to, missing bids on items, looting the wrong item, awarding an item to a player who cannot use it, failing to update DKP correctly, etc. If a mistake happens, DO NOT PANIC. It is not the end of the world if a mistake happens. We are not trying to cause a player to intentionally miss out on an item they would have earned. Often times we can correct the mistake by various means, either through defaulting an item or petitioning to have said item moved to the correct winner, etc. Each mistake will be handled by the officers on a case by case basis.

If anyone has questions, please contact an officer.
